Electropop, synthrock, indiepop are among the many tags that have been used to describe the music of a band able to put many different elements together, mixing catchy ballads with a personal electronic sound.
The band was born, officially speaking, in 2003 with the release of their first single Without Asking Me, under EMI Music, which not only caught the eye (ear and attention) of the critics and mass media but also of the record-buying public and record labels, in particolar foreign labels.
Mid 2005 sees the publication in Italy of their debut album LATER TONIGHT, receiving instant acclaim from the music press and the title of “Record Of The Month” from Trax magazine.
In 2006, Infacted Recordings, Germany’s trendsetter for electronic music, releases Later Tonight v 2.0, a new version of the album with 4 bonus tracks.
Great feedback and reviews from the Web, forums and sites giving recognition to Babylonia’s musical output. Not to be missed.
In 2008 Babylonia are chosen from over 200 bands and win the annual edition of M.E.I TECH, the electronic sector of M.E.I., Meeting Etichette Indipendenti italiane, the Italian Indie annual shindig.
Babylonia concerts are quite memorable and captivating, probably thanks to the exprience gained on the European tours (Berlin, Frankfurt, Prague, Bratislava, Paris amongst others) and as opening act for cult bands like IAMX, Client and Melotron.
January 2010 sees Babylonia’s comeback and welcome return on the music scene with a new album MOTEL LA SOLITUDE.
In this second phase the introspective side of the band sees the light of day after 3 years of writing and recording and production work culminating with studio production at the Massive Arts Studios in Milan and aided by sound engineer Marco Barusso (Lacuna Coil, Cradle Of Filth and more).
The album entered immediately the Italian top 10 iTunes albums.
The singles BY MY SIDE and MYSELF INTO MYSELF received a great response from many Italian radio stations including important national networks like Virgin Radio, M20, Radio 105 and more.
The videos, both directed by Stefano Bertelli, a great Italian videomaker who has worked for many Italian big acts, was broadcast on main TV Channels including MTV, DEEJAY TV and others.
BY MY SIDE was also “Single Of The Week” on iTunes Italia.
TOUR LA SOLITUDE 2010 and CONNECTION TOUR 2011 reached many places in Europe and Italy (from Istanbul to Moscow, Barcelona, Turin, Rome, Brindisi, Milan, St.
Babylonia was also supported PET SHOP BOYS during their concert in Pavia in june 2010.
In february 2011, Babylonia released the third single “ETHEREAL CONNECTION” and a new version of the debut album “LATER TONIGHT” including some bonus tracks.
In may 2011, the band worked with the most famous Spanish electropop band OBK with a remix of “Ni Te Das Cuenta” included on theie greatest hits «20BK».
Babylonia also supported OBK in Madrid on 18th june 2011.
At the end of august 2011, Babylonia are among the artists performing at Moolight Festival with And One, Daf, Clock DVA and others.
The band is currently working on a new album in loving memory of unforgettable Robbie Rox who has passed away 5th of July 2011.
