Bassboosa is a five-piece band fronted by the beautiful and talented Jasmine Badir and her co-writing partner Tim Clarke who is also a gifted producer/remixer. Bassboosa have just serviced radio with «Succumb» the remixes, which offer an electronic/trip-hop/chill-out journey (think Dido, Frou Frou, Zero 7, Sarah MacLachlan, Enigma). The EP contains remixes from Glen Nicholls, Tim Cox and FutureFunk Squad.
The band has had success in the US with their take on Chris Isaak’s «Wicked Game,» gaining radio support on over 30 additional stations across the US and had their music licensed by EA Games for Tiger Woods 08. In addition, the band was featured as a spotlight artist on MySpace’s main music page as the Snocap featured artist of the week, which saw them selling several thousand downloads in a matter of a couple of weeks, which is unprecedented for a relatively unknown act that is unsigned in the US. Bassboosa is signed to UK independent Champion Records, which was the original independent label home to Dido, Faithless, Robin S, Will Smith and Salt-N-Pepa prior to their major label signing in the UK and/or US. When Tim Clarke and Jasmine Badir walked into Champion Records in 2002, it didn’t take long for Champion to realise they had unearthed another talent set to follow on from recent successes Faithless and Dido. 21-year-old Badir has a great penchant for writing haunting lyrics while Clarke a 26 year old multi-instrumentalist is a great musical compliment to her songwriting skills. They wrote together passionately for the next 4 years crafting songs before moving into the famous Townhouse studios and Cheeky’s own studio to record the album with production help from Stonebridge & Faithless engineer Goetz. www.amazon.com/Bassboosa/dp/B000OYC1R2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1268319987&sr=1-1
